Richmond Bridge Tasmania

Postby Jemm » Wed Jun 13, 2012 7:44 pm

Team Paranormal Australia visits Australia's oldest bridge to uncover its secrets. Two independent spirits have been seen at the bridge as well as the spirit of a dog that has simply been called Grover's Dog named after the most famous of the two spirits George Grover.

Here's a little background research I did for this one.

George Grover was transported to Tasmania (Van Diemens Land) in April 1826 on the Earl StVincent and sentenced to 14 years for stealing.
In 1829 he was made flagellator at the construction of the Richmond bridge.
It is said that he was rather cruel to the other convicts and may have whipped them like horses while they pulled the carts full of stones.
Many believe that while he was resting on the bridge, the other convicts threw him to his death from the the bridge.
On the records of his death, it states that it was a result of falling, or being pushed from the Bigge's bridge, now known as the Richmond bridge.

People have reported seeing his spirit watching over the bridge from either shore, and is mainly seen as a shadowy figure.
Not much is known of Grovers dog, another spirit reported, except it is known to appear at night and escort women walking alone over the bridge, and then disappear as soon as they make it to the opposite side.

ohhh he sounds like a nasty peice of work!!
I wonder who the dog belonged to ?
crazy to walk alone at night , then to have a ghosty dog come out of no where
I don't know if I'd be terrified or grateful :shakehead:

Thanks for the info Ross..I always like to know the background of locations, helps to put the peices together
